Students Of Other Institutions

FE and Undergraduate Students

If you are a student at a Higher or Further education institution you are welcome to use our collections, for reference only, during our normal opening hours. Please report to our Service Desk on the ground floor, where you will be required to provide photographic ID. Guest photocopying is available upon request.

If you wish to borrow from our collections, you can join our External Membership scheme for an annual fee. Discounts are available for GSA alumni or Friends.

Students on Joint Programmes

If you are a student on a programme delivered jointly between GSA and another institution, such as the University of Glasgow, you will have full access and borrowing rights to the libraries of both institutions.

Postgraduates

Postgraduates of participating home institutions can apply for limited borrowing rights to GSA Library via the SCONUL Access scheme. Please check your eligibility with your home institution, who will also direct you on how to apply.

You will be entitled to borrow 5 books at a time and will have access to photocopying facilities. Unfortunately, you will not be allowed to borrow DVDs or journals, and you will not have access to our computing facilities or online resources. You will be able to access the Internet however through our wifi network.

External Members

£40 FOR ONE YEAR

External membership costs £40 annually. You will be entitled to borrow 5 books at a time and will have access to photocopying facilities. Unfortunately, you will not be allowed to borrow DVDs or journals, and you will not have access to our computing facilities or online resources. You will be able to access the Internet however through our wifi network.

The Privacy Notice for External Members sets out how the Library manages the personal data (names and contact details) of external members.

Please complete the online application form below. We reserve the right to refuse applications and refund any monies paid. This form requires online payment – if you do not wish to use our online payment facility please visit the library in person to apply.

Alumni & Friends of GSA

£25 FOR ONE YEAR

Discounted external membership costs £25 annually, and is open to anyone who is a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art or a registered Friend of the GSA. You will be entitled to borrow 5 books at a time and will have access to photocopying facilities. Unfortunately, you will not be allowed to borrow DVDs or journals, and you will not have access to our computing facilities or online resources. You will be able to access the Internet however through our wifi network.

Please complete the online application form below. Eligibility will be checked and verified before your application is approved, and we reserve the right to refuse applications and refund any monies paid. This form requires online payment – if you do not wish to use our online payment facility please visit the library in person to apply.

SUPERLUX members are also entitled to discounted membership. Simply visit the library with your SUPERLUX membership number, fill out an External Borrower Membership form, and your card will be posted to your home address within 7-10 days.
